Job Summary:

The Level 4 Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides specialized nursing care to critically ill or premature newborns at a nationally recognized Level IV center. This role involves delivering advanced treatment for respiratory failure and heart disease, performing patient assessments, administering medications, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. The nurse must have at least two years of relevant experience, including telemetry, and maintain certifications such as NRP 8th edition and BLS. Strong communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to critically ill or premature newborns in the NICU.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including use of Epic electronic medical records.
• Respond to emergencies and provide advanced life support as needed.
• Participate in on-call, callback, and charge nurse responsibilities as required by unit needs.
• Adhere to unit policies, procedures, and regulatory standards for neonatal intensive care.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State only.
• Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience, including telemetry.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) 8th edition certification.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records system preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• At least one year of recent Epic experience in the NICU or related specialty.
• Experience working in a Level IV NICU or similar high-acuity neonatal environment.

Special Considerations:

• Work includes nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call/ callback shifts as per unit requirements.
• Charge nurse duties may be assigned based on unit needs.
• Must be willing to comply with TB skin testing requirements.
• Must be aware of and able to work rotating day/evening/night shifts on inpatient units if required.

Scheduling:

• Straight night shifts primarily, with potential for rotating day/evening/night shifts depending on unit needs.
• Schedule includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback coverage.
