Job Description

The purpose of the Key Account Manager, Specialty Retail role is to gain distribution in national specialty retail outlets (such as hardware, DIY, and electronics stores) and to manage existing accounts. The Red Bull Key Account Manager will build relationships, secure distribution, align the route-to-market with customer needs, develop merchandising solutions, negotiate mutually beneficial partnership agreements, and ensure the execution of “perfect store” standards.

Key responsibilities include: conducting customer sales calls, sales planning (including budget management and forecasting), negotiating agreements with retail partners, participating in industry, category, and customer events, deploying local Red Bull resources against key customers, placing equipment, maintaining in-store standards, and tracking and managing results.

  • Use all available internal and external resources to significantly increase the number of outlets that sell Red Bull.

    Choose and utilize the most effective route-to-market options (direct shipment, warehouse, DSD, etc.) for distribution and merchandising, while maximizing profitability.

    Develop a customer call schedule that supports national initiatives and meets growth targets.

    Represent Red Bull at industry events and trade shows in a manner that reflects and upholds our premium brand standards.

  • Support the development of a customer target list for new business acquisition, prioritized by segments with the highest volume per outlet.

    Achieve Red Bull’s goals for new chain specialty retail outlet expansion and volume growth.

    Develop processes, ways of working, and an internal support system that drive exponential outlet growth.

    Ensure Red Bull’s standards are consistently maintained with all customers.

    Negotiate customer contracts that uphold Red Bull’s premium image and perfect-store standards.

  • Provide timely and comprehensive communication support to the Red Bull business unit and headquarters teams.

    Be an invaluable team member by offering expertise and demonstrating a humble willingness to assist regardless of title or job description.

    Collaborate cross-functionally to support the organization’s efforts to market and sell Red Bull.

  • Manage sampling, consumer activations, and promotional activities to acquire new customers and influence key industry decision-makers.

    Establish and nurture relationships with key influencers and business partners.

    Lead staff engagement sessions with new specialty retail partners, as needed, to build affinity for and understanding of the Red Bull brand.

    Serve as a vigilant guardian and positive ambassador of the brand when engaging with current and potential customers, as well as industry influencers.

  • Proven experience in soliciting new national business, with a strong record of success (20% of the role).
  • Experience managing existing national and regional accounts, including key/national account management (80% of the role).
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Creative, outgoing, and friendly personality.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Holder of a valid driver’s license.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are considered an asset.
  • Employees may be required to lift and or move up to 25 pounds or more as needed 
  • Travel 40-50%
