The Organization

The Rhu is the counter-service cafe/bakery/pantry from Chef John Fleer. It a staple of the 'localvore' economy in the heart of downtown Asheville serving up high-quality breakfast and lunch with a quickness. In our restaurant group, we believe in people-first hospitality from our employees to our farm partners to our guests. We are hiring a Cashier, but the person will always come before the role.

The Person 

As a Cashier / Barista at The Rhu, you are a reliable and timely morning person. You believe that a smile and some coffee (and maybe a pastry!) set the tone for a good day. You thrive in a small team environment that focuses on quality. Maybe you want to learn more about food & beverage as a career or hone your skills at latte art.

The Role

• Set up the cafe in the morning to perform counter service
• Greet guests and answer questions about the menu
• Ring orders in using a POS and collect payment
• Operate espresso machine and make a variety of beverages
• Work as a team with BOH and other FOH team members to deliver food when order is complete
• Communicate 86es, quality or quantity issues, and need for assistance quickly and professionally

The Qualifications

• 1 year of customer-facing job history preferred
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Lift up to 50lbs
• AM availability, Sundays especially
